Vitae 2024 - once again two times the highest award "4 Viti"!

Merlot from Kurtatsch? We can't think of a better combination and the AIS sommelier association seems to think so too: in the 2024 edition of its "Vitae" wine guide, it awards the top "4 Viti" award to two of our wines, both made from a large percentage of Merlot.

The Merlot Riserva BRENNTAL 2020 (100% Merlot) and the top cuvée TRES 2015 (77% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon), both come from the Brenntal vineyard north of the village of Kurtatsch which belongs among the warmest locations (up to 40°C/104°F) in Alto Adige. The vines on these steep slopes with its intensive sunshine grow on red, sandy loam. In the evening, the fleshy grapes are cooled by fresh fall winds. This unique terroir gives our Merlot its Alpine character. No wonder that Merlot has found its ideal home here for decades!

The tenth edition of the Vitae wine guide does not only aim to promote the work of the Italian Sommelier Association, but also serves as a link between the different sectors of the wine and food industry. With over 2,000 producers reviewed and more than 25,000 wines tasted and 12,000 reviewed, the wine guide offers a comprehensive look at the Italian wine scene.
