The Wine Expedition on Forbes: Jenn Rice shares her experience of this unique adventure
Following her visit to Kurtatsch at the beginning of summer and her participation in our Wine Expedition, the American journalist Jenn Rice has now published an article about the experience on Forbes. She begins with a brief introduction to our winery before describing what a full day on the Wine Expedition is like.
What impressed her in particular was the tried-and-tested principle of the Wine Expedition: during the hike from 900 to 220 m the tour stops at each vineyard site to taste the wine that originates from that very place. Over the course of the day, a total of 12 wines from our TERROIR-line are tasted.
The food by restaurateurs from Kurtatsch included in the experience also left nothing to be desired. During the traditional Alto Adige “Brettljause” in the morning at Himmelspforte in Penon, Jenn particularly highlights the exceptional Alto Adige Speck. Lunch at Terzer or Schwarz Adler features a carefully composed three-course menu prepared with ingredients from local producers. Naturally, the dishes are accompanied by matching wines.
In the afternoon, the hike continues through the red wine vineyards until it eventually leads back to the winery. Jenn Rice also recommends that readers take a look at the historic manor houses in the village centre, the church, the new building of our winery, as well as our barrique cellar.
