Vinaria on Alto Adige's new concept of UGA classification and our winery
In a new article in the Austrian magazine "Vinaria", Alto Adige's new concept of UGA classification takes centre stage. Following a brief introduction to the concept, our President Andreas Kofler also shares his insights.
He explains that the newly introduced UGAs are a tool for making the wine’s origin visible on the label and communicating it transparently. The aim is to make the connection between origin and wine clear and easy to understand.
As a leading winery with nine wines from eight different UGAs, our unique terroir is also explored in the article. The impressive difference in altitude, ranging from 220 to 900 m a.s.l., allows us to cultivate each grape variety exactly where it can reach its full potential.
In this context, the article also highlights our decision to move the cultivation of Gewürztraminer from the UGA Brenntal to the slightly higher-altitude UGA Frauenrigl in the future, in order to adapt to climate change.
We are delighted by this highly interesting insight into our winery and the new single-vineyard concept. You can read the full article here.
