The Buyer: Peter Dean writes about our winery, Alto Adige’s new concept of UGA classification and tastes our wines

In a new article for the British magazine "The Buyer", journalist Peter Dean presents Alto Adige’s new concept of UGA classification using our cooperative as an example. As a leading winery with nine UGA wines from eight different Additional Geographical Units, he goes on to introduce several of our wines and shares his tasting notes.

He begins by discussing the new Alto Adige UGA concept and explaining why the connection between grape variety and UGA is so relevant. In this context, he also explores our philosophy and how, even before the introduction of the UGA concept, we had already been producing our wines according to the principle “Vineyard by Vineyard, Wine by Wine.”. This can be seen, for example, in our winery’s decision to move the production of our Gewürztraminer from the UGA Brenntal to the slightly higher-altitude UGA Frauenrigl in the future, in order to respond to climatic changes.

He then describes the influence of terroir on a wine using our two Pinot Noirs from the UGAs Glen and Mazon as examples. Peter Dean praises both wines, while also highlighting the significant differences between them, which can be attributed solely to the different Additional Geographical Units.

Finally, three more wines from our TERROIR line are tasted, for which we also receive extremely positive and encouraging feedback.
